With the introduction of role-based security settings in Dynamics AX 2012, development in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (D365FO) has progressed further. It is now possible to carry out the creation of security roles and all configurations in the user interface, without objects in the development environment needing to be created. All settings are now stored as data . This has the advantage that, for the security configuration you are no longer reliant on code transfers. There is also an export/import function that exports all security settings, e.g. from the test system, and imports them into the production system. Necessary changes can therefore be made in live operation and are then immediately available. With the help of the task recorder you can record all tasks of the role to be defined in D365FO. In addition to documenting the processes, this recording can also be imported into the security configuration. Existing user roles can be checked against this recording, and for each executed process step it is indicated whether the respective user has the necessary permission for that menu item (or whether it is missing). For the missing permissions, the roles that grant this access are displayed, and you can assign the employee directly to the required security role. In addition, from any form in D365FO, it is possible via the Options/ Security diagnostics tab to display the various security objects that differ for this form and to assign them directly to an existing role.
