Dynamics 365 for Retail – closely related to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations – is Microsoft's end-to-end retail solution. It offers unified commerce across all channels and a broad range of business processes, e.g. merchandising, inventory and channel management. The retail stores can be physical branches , online shops and/or call centres , with various points of sale ( POS ). Primarily, Retail POS supports two options, which share the same core logic: Retail Modern POS (MPOS ) – for Windows, Android and iOS devices Cloud POS (CPOS) – for Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome browsers For the decision, deployment, management, connectivity and hardware or peripheral devices must be taken into account. The key difference is the installation: MPOS is an application that is packaged, set up and maintained on the devices. CPOS , on the other hand, runs in a browser and requires no installation or updating. Bei CPOS and MPOS for iOS/Android can be used anywhere and with easy access. In comparison, MPOS for Windows allows direct access to POS hardware and working offline. The MPOS for Windows can therefore process further sales in offline mode and communicate directly with devices such as printers, cash drawers and payment terminals. For all other applications, one or more hardware stations are required. POS Offline functionality Direct communication with devices Update MPOS for Windows Yes Yes The new version must be installed MPOS for iOS/ Android No No The new version must be installed CPOS No No Automatically More on the topic of „MPOS vs. CPOS“: https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/dynamics365/unified-operations/retail/mpos-or-cpos
